【重要短语讲解】

   1．turn up开大（收音机、电视）的音量；赴约，出席；出现
   turn away把（脸）转过去，不理睬
   turn back折回
   turn down翻下（衣领等）；拒绝；关小、弄小（收音机等的声音）
   turn in递交
   turn off 停掉、关掉
   turn on 打开
   turn out结果弄清楚（是……）
   turn over把（东西）翻过来
   turn to向（某人）求助；翻到

   I can't hear the radio very well; could you turn it up a bit?
   收音机我听不太清楚，你把声音开大点行吗?
   She turned away and began to cry.
   她把脸转过去哭了起来。
   The weather became so bad that they had to turn back.
   天气变得很坏，他们只好原路而归了。
   When he came into the room，he turned down his collar.
   当他走进房间的时候，他把衣领翻了下来。
   He tried to join the army but was turned down because of poor health.

   2．be supposed to…理应去…
   suppose…to be…以为……是……
   suppose that…以为，猜想；假定

   They were supposed to be here half an hour ago.
   他们理应在一小时前就到这儿。
   We're supposed to help each other.
   我们理应互相帮助。
   All of her friends suppose him to be her husband。
   她所有的朋友都以为他是她的丈夫。
   —Will he come here? 他会来这儿吗?
   —Yes, I suppose so. 是的，我想是的。（No, I don't suppose so. / I suppose not. 不，我想不会。）
   I suppose that I can go to Beijing soon.
   我想我很快会去北京的。
   Suppose that what you said just now is right.
   假定你刚才说的话是对的。

   3．run into…跑进……使……撞上
   run after追赶
   run away逃跑
   run out of将……用光

   As soon as she heard the bell，she ran into the classroom.
   她一听到上课铃声就跑进了教室。
   Her car ran into a tree.
   她的车撞到了树上。
   Look! The dog is running after the white cat.
   瞧!那只狗在追那只白色的猫。
   He ran away without being noticed.
   他趁人们没在意跑掉了。
   We're running out of time.
   我们剩下的时间不多了。

   4．remind sb. of sth. 使某人想起某事
   remind sb. to do sth. 使某人想起做某事
   remind that…使某人想起……

   She reminds me of someone I used to know.
   看到她使我想起以前认识的某个人。
   He reminded me to study hard.
   他提醒我要用功。
   She reminded me that I hadn't cleaned the blackboard.
   她提醒我还没有擦黑板。

   5．argue about议论
   argue for赞成
   argue against反对
   argue with sb. about / over sth. 与某人争论某事
   argue that 主张，认为

   He argued for / against the six-day week.
   他赞成/反对一星期上班6天。
   We argued with the waiter about the price of the meal.
   我们跟服务员争执那顿饭的价钱。
   He argued that their attempt would be a waste of time.
   他认为他们的努力将会是浪费时间。

   6．insist on doing 坚持做某事
   insist…that…坚持……

   We insist on him coming to the party.
   We insist that he（should）come to the party.
   我们坚持要他来参加聚会。
   We insisted that he（should）have a rest, but he insisted that he was not tired at all.
   我们坚持让他休息一下，但是他却认为他一点儿也不累。
